We have a mission:

To bridge the gap of independence, creating an accessible world where technology empowers blind and visually impaired individuals to navigate life with confidence.

We are dedicated to crafting solutions that empower individuals, ensuring that accessibility is seamlessly woven into the fabric of daily life. Our vision is a future where every person, regardless of their visual abilities, experiences the world with the same freedom and autonomy, making true independence a universal reality.

StrapTech: Our Story

From an idea to a reality

Eight years ago, Diego Roel (CEO), wanted to help in the world of disabilities, particularly visual impairment and the lack of innovation regarding mobility. This sparked the formation of Strap Tech four years ago, rallying a team of 20 experts, each bringing their unique skills to the table. Together, with invaluable insights from our beta testers, we embarked on a journey to create a more accessible world. Our collective expertise and the real-world experiences of our testers have been instrumental in shaping our innovative solutions. At Strap Tech, we're not just a team; we're pioneers united by a shared mission to transform accessibility into a reality for all.

Real Stories, Real Passion

Diego Roel

CEO

Diego Roel is a young entrepreneur dedicated to transforming lives through innovative technology. From a young age, Diego was captivated by robotics. A pivotal experience in his childhood solidified his mission: while at a supermarket with his mother, he witnessed a person with motor disabilities struggling with mobility. This profound moment inspired Diego's lifelong commitment to bridging the gap of independence between the visually impaired and non-impaired.

Motivated by this vision, Diego founded Strap Tech. His goal has always been to create technology that empowers individuals with visual impairments, helping them navigate their surroundings with confidence and independence. Under his leadership, Strap Tech is dedicated to making the world more accessible and ensuring that everyone can enjoy greater autonomy.

“Growing up, I was very close to my grandfather, a master carpenter who, after a 50-year career, lost his sight. I worked with him during my teens and learned his meticulous approach to craftsmanship, especially his mantra, "Measure twice, cut once." Witnessing his struggle with blindness, especially after a life of visual precision, deeply affected me. As a budding engineer, I created assistive devices to help him adapt to his diminishing vision, though he largely relied on my grandmother for guidance outside the home.”

"My paternal grandmother, for 40 years, was a teacher for blind people. She learned Braille and was very involved in the education of hundreds of people from the community. So, since I was very young, she would tell me about what she did and all the sensitivity around the subject. Since I had the opportunity to meet Diego in 2020 while studying our MBT, and he told me about the project, I couldn't help but want to get involved, participate, and make a change for millions of blind people in the world."

"I had the rare opportunity to meet my great-grandfather, Canuto, a former sailor who, in his later years, crafted scale model ships, despite losing his sight to cataracts. His creations, detailed with wood, metal, and glass, were a testament to his skill and memory of the seas. On my last visit, he gifted me his final, unfinished ship, a project halted due to his inability to go for materials. This incomplete masterpiece became a symbol of my life's mission. Inspired by Canuto's resilience and my own journey in product development, I joined Strap with a vision: to empower the visually impaired to achieve their dreams without dependency. This story, especially the unfinished ship, now reminds me daily of our commitment at Strap to create a better, more inclusive world."
